The Best of Both Worlds – with Joe Accaria

Some people say there is nothing quite like an acoustic drum kit. Others swear by all the advantages of electronic kits. However, why not have the best of both worlds?

Joe Accaria is one of Australia’s hardest working percussionists and has performed with theatrical productions like Smoke & Mirrors, Tap Dogs and David Campbell’s ‘On Broadway’. His touring and recording credits include artists as diverse as Andrea Bocelli, Cyndi Lauper, Smokey Robinson, Jimmy Little, Tripod and Ian Moss.

Joe regularly uses an acoustic drum kit that utilizes drum triggers and an SPD-S sampling pad. During his performance he will talk about the advantages of using acoustic and electronic drums.

Get Connected – with special guest Mal Green

When a Roland V-Drum kit is connected to a computer, a whole new world of opportunities opens up.

Roland Australia Percussion Product Manager Simon Ayton and special guest Mal Green (Split Enz, Green Sound Music recording studios) will show you some of the things that are possible, including interactive lessons and software that turns whatever you play into drum notation.

Of special interest is V-Drums Friend Jam, the free software that has a competitive twist – download practice songs from the internet, share your workout on Twitter and compete with drummers from all over the world.

Inside the Roland TD9 – with Steve Fisher

Every year, hundreds of new musical instruments are released, but it is rare that something truly special comes out – something that not only meets critical acclaim and wins coveted industry awards, but also captivates and inspires musicians.

The Roland TD-9 V-Drum kit has proved to be in a class of its own, with incredibly popularity and flattering reviews.

In this session, Steve Fisher (Roland V-Drums R&D) takes you inside the latest versions, the TD9K2 & TD9KX2 and shows you what all the fuss it about.

The Latest Roland New Products – with Johnny Rabb

Aside from playing in the environmentally friendly BioDiesel (don’t miss their main stage performance at 12pm), special international guest Johnny Rabb also plays a big role in Roland electronic percussion.

He is an international V-Drums presenter, provides technical feedback to Roland, beta tests electronic percussion and has created sounds for V-Drum kits.

Johnny has been working on a new product for a while, and will unveil it in this exciting workshop at the V-Drum Festival.
