Beginner Group Drum Lessons
In addition to the sessions listed above, beginner group drum lessons will be running periodically throughout the day. With an emphasis on fun, there is no age limit on this activity, so children of all ages are encouraged to give it a go – and dads are welcome to join in as well! Far more than just teaching you which end of the stick to hold, the V-Drum Festival experts claim they can have anyone playing a song in under 20 minutes, so why not put them to test? Perfect for fathers and sons, we encourage mothers and daughters to get involved as well.
Intermediate & Advanced Group Drum Lessons
Up to 10 people can participate in intimate hands-on lessons in each session and additional people can observe. Whilst there are predetermined special lesson times as listed above, our drum and percussion teachers will be available most of the day, so drop by the Lessons Room anytime to get advice on how to improve your playing.
Main Stage Performances
Each performance will go for approximately 30 – 40 minutes. Many of the artists will be on hand to answer questions after their performance and during the V-Drum Festival. Seating capacity in the performance room is limited to 150 people.
Workshops & Masterclasses
Each workshop and/or masterclass will go for approximately 30 minutes. All of the presenters will be on hand to answer questions after their presentation. Seating capacity is limited to a maximum of 60 people.
Working With The Bass Player
When people talk about the ‘feel’ of a song, they are generally referring to the rhythm section – and at its core is the way a drummer interacts with the bass player.
Chris Whitten has performed or recorded with many famous artists, including Paul McCartney and Dire Straits. At the V-Drum Festival, Chris will invite drummers to play along with bassist David Stratton and then offer suggestions on how to create different feels by changing the drum parts.
This is an invaluable opportunity for a drummer to learn how interact with other musicians – from someone who has done it with the best of them. These one-on-one sessions will be fairly informal and children are welcome to take part.
